The UK Graduate Route (also called the Graduate Visa) is one of the most attractive features of studying in the UK. It gives you 2 years (or 3 years for PhD graduates) to live and work in the UK after your degree — in any job, any industry.
Eligibility: You must have completed a qualifying degree at a UKVI-approved UK university on a valid Student Visa. You must apply while your Student Visa is still valid (do not let it expire).
Work Rights: You can work full-time in virtually any role, including self-employment. There is no minimum salary requirement, though switching to a Skilled Worker Visa later requires meeting the salary threshold.
Application Process: Apply online from inside the UK before your Student Visa expires. The fee is £822. Biometrics are required. Processing is typically within 8 weeks.
Path to Settlement: The Graduate Route does not directly lead to settlement, but 5 years on a Skilled Worker Visa does. Many graduates use the Graduate Route to gain UK work experience and then switch to Skilled Worker.
